Silicone contact layer is a primary dressing used as a wound contact layer that allows exudate to pass into an absorbent secondary dressing. It is made of a knitted polyester fabric coated with silicone adhesive on both sides, preventing the dressing from sticking to the wound surface while adhering safely to the surrounding skin.
Silicone contact layer
Silicone contact layer dressings are thin, non-adherent sheets made of woven or perforated material that can be placed on an open wound bed to protect tissue from direct contact with other agents or dressings applied to the wound. These dressings provide interface between the wound and the dressing, protecting fragile healing tissue, and preventing new epithelium from sticking to the dressing.
Silicone Wound Contact Layer Dressing may be used to allow passage of exudate and provide fixation and protection of the wound bed during dressing changes for a wide variety of partial to full thickness wounds

Feature:
Contact layer dressings feature the following general performance properties and attributes:
Application:
Contact layer dressings can also be used as a liner for deep wounds that need packing to ensure removal of all packing material. Contact layers conform to the shape of the wound and are porous to allow exudate to pass through for absorption by an overlying, secondary dressing. Indicated for partial- and full-thickness wounds, infected wounds, donor sites and split-thickness skin grafts. May be used with topical medications.
Indications:
Contact layer dressings are not recommended for stage I pressure ulcers, third-degree burns, tunneling wounds, clean or debriding wounds, shallow wounds, dry wounds, wound covered with eschar or wounds with viscous exudate.
Silicone contact layer is available in a variety of sizes and can be cut to shape and size to meet even your most demanding wound care needs. The transparent open mesh design has been optimised to facilitate fluid management, allowing for effective exudate removal and topical treatment application as well as wound inspection.
