Polyurethane Foam dressing:
Polyurethane foam is a non adherent foam dressing consisting of 2 layers:
- Hydrophilic polyurethane foam with high absorption capacity;
- Transparent polyurethane film that acts as a bacterial and viral barrier, while allowing optimal moisture vapor transmission. The polyurethane film is waterproof and backed with medical-grade adhesive;
Mechanisms:
- The porous structure helps it with more and faster absorbency;
- Gel can be formed after absorbing exudates to keep moist environment for the wound;
- It has water-lock function;
- Caminoted to a semi-permeable, anti-bacterial and water-proof polyurethane film backing;
- It is soft, elastic, comfortable and can decrease the wound pressure;
- The porous structure can absorb peculiar smell.

Typical application:
Polyurethane foam is used for the management of light to moderately exuding, partial to full thickness wounds including:
- Pressure ulcers;
- Venous and arterial leg ulcers;
- Diabetic foot ulcers;
- First and second degree burns;
- Tracheostomy and surgical wounds;
- Can be used as an aid for the prevention of skin breakdown;
Instruction of polyurethane foam dressing:
The procedure for applying a foam dressing is as follows:
- Put on gloves.
- Clean the wound area with saline solution.
- Dry the skin around the wound with sterile gauze.
- Apply a foam dressing which extends a minimum of one inch beyond the edges of the wound.
- If the dressing does not have an adhesive border, you may need to apply a secondary dressing or use wrap or tape to hold it in place.
- When changing the dressing, peel off the foam dressing carefully, clean the wound and apply a new foam dressing.
Apply to different phase of wound, especially to heavy exudated wound. Adaptable to I-II degree burn and scald wound.
